The school’s academic year consists of two semesters: the autumn semester and the spring semester.
Each semester consists of:
- two course periods of eight weeks, of which the last week is the exam period;
- one course period of two weeks, in which you’ll complete specific (programme-related) skills training.
For more information, see the Academic Calendars of the current, future, and previous years.

There are two large stack locations at the University Library where you can study using your own device. Other learning spaces are located on the second floor of the Student Services Centre (SSC) building at Bonnefantenstraat 2 (the Bonnefanten Learning Spaces) and in Warehouse V on the grounds of the Tapijn barracks (the Tapijn Learning Spaces). From 1 February 2016 there will also be learning spaces available in the Randwyck sports hall.
You can pick up an A4-size map of all the University Library study places from the library information desks.
During exam periods the University Library will offer extended opening hours for students wishing to prepare for upcoming exams. For a complete overview of opening hours, go to: http://umlib.nl/hours
