Doctoral positions

In general, there are three types of doctoral positions: (1) PhD positions funded by the Graduate School of Business and Economics (GSBE), (2) internally funded PhD positions, and (3) externally funded PhD positions.

(1) PhD positions funded by the Graduate School of Business and Economics (GSBE)

GSBE welcomes applications for funded positions once a year in the fall. Please check here for more information and details on the application process.

(2) Internally funded PhD positions

Internally funded PhD positions are those for which we offer funding via sources other than GSBE. They may be funded, for example, from a researcher’s grant or by a specific department.

Funded PhD positions are always announced on our homepage in addition to Inomics, professional email lists (e.g., ESA, SJDM, EADM) and scientific organizations (e.g., Society for Neuroeconomics job board).

(3) Externally funded PhD positions

Externally funded PhD positions are those for which you have obtained your own funding. Please note that this includes potential funding sources from Maastricht University which do not fit into categories (1) or (2) above.

If you (a) have already obtained external funding and are looking for a host institution or (b) plan on seeking external funding for a doctoral position at MU-CEN and require our institutional support (e.g., a recommendation letter or agreement to host your position if it is funded), please send the following information in a single PDF file to neuroeconomics-sbe@maastrichtuniversity.nl:

(1) Motivation letter containing a short description of the research you are interested in and why you would like to do it with us; this should be between 1/2 and 1 A4 page.
(2) Curriculum vitae or resume.
(3) Course and grade list of your university studies.
(4) Contact information for one academic reference.

Please do not contact MU-CEN members directly.  We meet regularly and discuss all requests.
